John Simon

Ambassador Simon is a co-founder of Total Impact Capital and serves as Managing Partner. He sits on the board of Azure Source Capital, Franchise Impact Solutions Facility, Financing Alliance for Health, and United Planet, and he sits on the Investment Committee for Azure Source Capital, Franchise Impact Solutions Facility, ImFact Kenya Limited, and the US Government’s Trade Advisory Committee for Africa. His advisory services extend to Renew Strategies, Orange Symphony, and Merck for Mothers, and he chairs the International Development Committee of the Forum for American Leadership.

Ambassador Simon has had a distinguished career in both public service and development finance, including roles as the U.S. Ambassador to the African Union and Executive Vice President of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). He significantly advanced social impact investments, authoring the report “More than Money” at the Center for Global Development and leading OPIC’s initiatives to finance key projects in Africa. Additionally, he was the first Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Relief, Stabilization, and Development at the National Security Council, overseeing major humanitarian and health initiatives. Ambassador Simon holds a BA from Princeton University and an MPP from Harvard University.
